It Takes Time to See

“In a way nobody sees a flower really, it is so small, we haven’t the time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time”

– Georgiea O’Keeffe

I got an email this morning, a regular subscription email from an extraordinary woman – Susannah Conway.  There was a beautiful gift inside – the “Exploring the Senses” e-book. The quote above is from there, and what struck me most  while slowly working through the book were the moments of serendipity that I experienced almost on every other page. My favourite movies mentioned, familiar emotions described, my well hidden dreams shining right there on the page, as if the words were written for me… And then there was this quote by Georgia O’Keeffe, a tidbit of life philosophy that is so close to my heart, that tells us to stop often. To see. To observe. To feel. To live a little bit more mindfully. To make sure that you get low on the ground, curbside,  to capture that ray of low sun kissing the little clover flower. You will know then that the spring is here.

So yes, the spring is here! It is warmer, it is lighter (it really feels strange when I drive to my yoga class at 5.30 in the morning – it is too bright for that time of the day!), it is generally lovelier. Plus the weather is perfect for green smoothies, and I am now officially addicted to kale and spinach.

Have a beautiful spring everyone.
